Privacy Policy for Browser Extensions

Last Updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to all browser extensions, add-ons, and plugins developed and published by Heretool (collectively referred to as "our Extensions") across the Chrome Web Store and other extension marketplaces.

1. Our Core Privacy Commitment

We respect your privacy as our absolute priority. All our Extensions are designed as 100% client-side, minimalist productivity and utility tools.

  • No Data Collection: We do not track, collect, or monitor your browsing history, clicks, or online behavior.
  • No External Transmission: We do not host any remote tracking scripts. No personal data, sensitive information, or user inputs are ever transmitted to external servers.
  • No Monetization of Data: Since we harvest zero user data, we do not, and will never, sell, trade, or share any user information with third parties.

2. Covered Extensions & Specific Implementation

This universal policy applies explicitly to our active catalog, including but not limited to:

Color Picker (By Heretool)

Our eyedropper and color inspection utility operating under this strict standard. When you use the color-grabbing tool, all visual pixel sampling, hex/rgb/hsl code conversions, and recent color logs run entirely within your local browser sandbox. The extension has zero network communication capabilities and never leaks your design data or active web addresses to the outside world.

*Note: Future utilities published by Heretool will automatically be bound by these same client-side sandboxing rules.

3. How Data is Handled (Local Storage)

Any application data generated during your use of our Extensions (such as recently grabbed color logs in Color Picker, user configuration preferences, or local history logs) is stored exclusively on your local device via the browser's secure local storage API.

This data never leaves your computer. It is permanently wiped out the moment you clear your browser cache or uninstall the extension.

4. Explanation of Browser Permissions We May Request

Depending on the specific functionality of each extension, we only request the absolute minimum permissions required to perform tasks. Here is how we use them:

  • activeTab / tabs: Used solely to allow tools (like the Color Picker eyedropper, page inspectors, or page screenshot utilities) to interact visually with the active tab when explicitly triggered by the user.
  • scripting: Used to inject essential utility scripts or visual crosshairs onto the current web page to perform intended on-screen tasks (e.g., magnifying pixels for exact selection).
  • storage: Used purely to remember user preferences, UI theme states, or local logs (e.g., your saved color history pallet) on your own machine.
  • clipboardWrite: Used to allow one-click copying of generated codes, texts, or links directly to your system clipboard for maximum efficiency.

5. Regulatory Compliance

Our Extensions comply fully with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the User Data Privacy principles, as well as global standards like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
